How to make my imac run fast

Hey guyz i own a imac.. 24 inchies....
When ever i start my mac after the os loads.. blue screen comes and it stays for around 10 sec then the desktop appers.. this problem was not before this.. i read some where that the ram caches should be deleted so howz the procedure...plz help... i m using final cut pro whole day long..and its slow, before it was fast..plz help.. regards

There are no "ram caches" to clear that would have any kind of effect on the speed of your Mac.

Do you have enough free space on your hard drive?
 
When my Final Cut machines get lazy, sometimes the only help is to unplug them from power for 20 seconds. Sounds stupid, yes, but it helps. That happens rather rarely though.

It seems to me that macs can pretty much slow down when the network (Xsan) is slow of response. You might want to check into that as well.
