hi

How can i modify "Open With..." list of the context menu.
if i press right mouse button there comes a menu with "help" "open" "open with..." ....

in the list of "open with..." there are hundrets of apps which aren't on my mac anyy more. how can i edit this!

please help

I'm guessing that those app are stored in your Finder preferences file. You can harmlessly delete this file CALLED com.apple.finder.plist, see if it solves your problem; it can be found at:

Users > yourname > Library > Preferences > com.apple.finder.plist

if that doesn't do it, try installing Zingg! which you can get here, it is great contextual menu freeware. The developer is responsive, perhaps he can tell you where to fix that list.

ok thanks.

i'll try next week if i'm back in office. were is my osx g4.
i post then if it works.

thanks for your fast reply

wish we could deny apps to be available in that list. that list is faaaaaaaaaaaar too long. however, for mail attachments, i've started to just drag them to the app's icon on the dock. much faster than trying to find the right app in the context menu.
