How to network OS X w/ windows XP help!!!

hi guys...i'm new in town with my iMAC 2002...great huh!...I'm having a hard time trying to network both my corporate laptop (WinXP) and my iMac, not that I want this to be forever, just want to get all my files moved over and leave my laptop for company use....any guidance as to how to interconnect these guys up?

Or you could just connect the two machines via crossover cable, use the iMac's built-in SMB client to access the Windows share, copy your files over, and presto! you're done. If you're trying to copy files from the Mac to the PC, then the simplest thing to do (short of shelling out big money for Dave) is to FTP them using OS X's built-in FTP server.
