How to play this .mpeg?

I have downloaded a .mpeg file from http://www.lindsaymedia.com/video_first.zip, it is really difficult to try to play this file properly.
I had try to play it with Quicktime 7, Windows Media Player for MAC OS X, and VLC Player from www.videoland.org.

Quicktime 7 = Cannot Read File
Windows Media Player = Cannot Read File
VLC Player = Play about an minute and quit.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Is there a ALL-IN-ONE codec I can download and just forget about all these multimedia players issue?

MPlayer handles it just fine. It does skip for a split-second around the 1-minute mark, though, I guess where VLC chokes. This file is definitely corrupt.

My QuickTime (7 Pro with MPEG2 Playback, OSX 10.3.9) had no trouble
with the file -- I suspect due to the MPEG2 Playback Component.
