how to reformat a HD with panther?

Just got my newPower G4 (after 15 years with IBM) I would like to reformat the HD with only Panter inside...... Help.....

Put your Panther CD in the drive and restart the machine with the C key held down. This will boot the computer off of the cd. When it comes to the screen where you want to choose your language, before you choose the language go to the Installer Menu and choose Open Disk Utility.

Choose the disk on the left that you would like to install Panther on. Click the erase tab on the right and erase the disk using the Mac OS Extended(Journaled). Name it what you want, then Command(Apple)-Q to quit Disk Utility. This will take you back to the installer. Choose your language and go on your way. You should be able to choose the drive you blanked out using disk utility.

You don't have to use Disk Utility. The installer will give you the option of a new, clean install, which will wipe the drive.
