How to rip (back up a dvd) and compress to fit on a single dvd r

I am new to the OS X world. I am an advanced windows user but have recently got a 15" powerbook. I need a program like Alcohol 120% dvd decrypter and a tool to compress to a single dvd-r. (I usually use Nero Recode with my PC) Are there programs that are like alcohol 120 % and dvd decrypter. I would like to save my dvds to .iso files. Any help is much appreciated.
