how to upgrade from 10.4.11 to 10.5? FOXED

I have a mac 10.4.11 and I want to download movies. but the torrent client doesnt open as it needs the support of a 10.5. how does one upgrade?

when I open software update on the top left hand corner, I only receive updates for Safari and iTunes. What shall I do??

If you want to upgrade to 10.5 or higher, you will need to purchase that upgrade.
You can purchase a new OS X system installer at Apple, or any place that sells Apple software. Or, you can look for that at the usual sources, eBay, etc. If you get a previously owned installer set, be sure the disk label is black (indicating a commercial installer set), and not grey (which will be a set that came with another Mac model, and won't work on other Mac models at all)

What do you mean "the torrent client"? There are many torrent clients. Which one(s) are you using? As a standalone client, I prefer Transmission. Transmission 1.54 is compatible with MacOS X 10.4.11. So too is BitTorrent 4.27.2. There are older versions of current torrent clients. If you have trouble finding these, then you have another choice. The current version of Vuze, formerly Azureus, works just fine under MacOS X 10.4.11. Vuze is both a bittorrent client and a media center/video player.

Well, I was hoping that I wouldnt have to spend money!

I followed instructions and download the bittorrent you suggested. but its still not opening. I am beginning to suspect that the problem is something and somewhere else.
Here s what happens:

I download the bittorrent client compatible with mac 10.4.11.
Its downloaded and saved in applications.
Then I downloaded a movie torrent (one of Almodovars).
but THEN, when I try and open it, the bittorrent bounces, in the dock, thrice and then disappears.......and thats happened an infinite number of times. what could it be Doc?
