Hi,

I have a number of OSX 10.3.x users that need to be updated to OSX 10.4.x

I am just wandering what would be the easiest way to deploy this update without having to go to each machine and manually update them.

We have ARD and also an OSX server is either of these can be utilised to do the job in anyway ?

Many thanks for any suggestions put forward.

You can blend the two, but ARD itself can't update clients between major versions of the OS, as you'd need to boot off of secondary media and have the ARD agent running at once.

You can, however, take the generic Tiger DVD and use System Image Utility to create an image of the media. When creating the image, tell it not to overwrite/erase the drive. Then use that as a NetBoot installation image to upgrade the clients to the OS level on the DVD.

ARD comes in, in that ARD is able to change your startup disks across your network to a specific disk, such as, a NetBoot server image. You can then also use ARD afterwards to apply any updates you may decide you'd like.

Let me know if you need any additional help!

Michael
