how to use screenshots more efficient

Hey!

While studying I often summarize stuff i learned in a word document, and because its handy not to rewrite everything, i used to copy material out of pdf documents. Most of them are protected so i use the program "bildschirmfoto" (i guess its called screenfoto or screenshot in english) which is already installed on leopard.

- So i make the screenshot of the material (seleced area)
- i save it to my desktop and then
- drag it from the desktop to my word document

i guess there is a more comfortable way to do this... like just select the area i want to screenshot and then draging or pasting it into my word document - without the need to save it in between....

any ideas?

Why don't you make the notes in the PDFs?

What's the benefit of copying all screenshots to PDFs?

He means he/she screenshots out of PDFs and puts the screenshots into word documents I think Gia.

OS X has screenshot features built in.

With Caps Lock on, press command-shift-4. It will copy a selected portion of the screen to the clipboard, so you can just paste it wherever you want it.

If you do it without Caps Lock on, it will save the selected portion to the desktop. It doesn't sound like bildschirmfoto offers you anything more that that.

You can also get the whole screen with command-shift-3.

Thanks for the replies, following works best for me:

Like Mikuro says: OS X has screenshot features built in.

There is also the feature to make a selection-shot which will be saved in clipboard and can be easily inserted in word by pressing [apple + v]

The (i guess standart) hotkey is [apple + shift + ^ + 4]
(I found it in the systempreferences --> keyboard)

I changed it to [apple + shift + a] which makes it more comfortable for the fingers ;)

Thanks again, problem solved ;)
