how you set the default email program?

i'm trying to click on a link to microsoft support
safari wants to send me to Mac's MAIL program, but i don't have a .mac account, so i can't even get past the registration process.

if i want to make Entourage or even
Aol
as my defualt email program, how can i set that?

The Mail.app that is included with Mac OS X works fine with any email account: POP, IMAP, and .mac. If you do not have a .mac account, you can skip the .mac registration process and enter your email accounts manually in Mail.app's Preferences.

If you would like to set the default mail client to something other than Mail.app, simply skip all the .mac registration stuff, then open Mail.app's Preferences from the "Mail" menu. Under the "General" pane, set "Default Email Reader: " to whatever you like.
