Howto send Illustrator files to a pc

Often I must send Illustrator artwork to my business associate's PC, who also has Illustrator installed. We're having a terrible time figuring out how to send the files so that she can open them and send them on to printing companies. When I send the files from Illustrator EPS (through Outlook Express), she sometimes receives it in a .dat form or pdf form. While she can usually open it to see the art, it is not still in a form for the printer who requires EPS files. I know there must be a simple solution to this problem! Help, please.
 
Whenever you send a file as an attachment to an email, always put an extentsion (.xxx) on it. It will go through much smoother if you do. So in this case, add .eps (if eps file) or .ai (if native illustrator). This should do the trick.
