Hi--
I'm new to OS X, but worked for an ISP for about a year using FreeBSD, so I know the basics of unix commands, but nothing too crazy.
My question is this:
The university I currently attend blocks all ports except 80 and I think 443 (secure connections, right?). Anyway, I heard that it is possible to tunnel all ports out through 80 to 80 on another server (without the restrictions), and that server in turns send it out to the correct port (and visa versa)
Example:
My machine getting pop mail (port 110)
My Machine:80 --> Server:80 --> Server:110 --> mail:110 (The back the same way)
I still have my shell account with the ISP I worked at, and so was wondering if someone could help me set it up on both OS X side and FreeBSD side. I appreciate all your help. Thanks.
