I just bought a new 500 GB USB 2 external Kaser StorageVault.
I have enabled journaling on the volume in an attempt to protect it against unflushed buffers, randomly tripping over the cord and removing it without unmounting it, etc.
I've noticed that the drive takes about a minute to mount. Is this because it's replaying the journal transactions? Is the benefit of journaling merely perceived or does it /actually/ help to preserve data from loss?
Thanks!
