I love the idea of moving the Apple Menu to the zright side!
Although it would break the System/Application/File/Content/... organization of the menu bar right now, I almost never use the Apple Menu (except for 'sleep), and it would be nice to have the App menu in the upper-left corner.
I have a feeling that one of the upcoming updates to X will include the Application Name/Icon option. It was in the BEta, and it seems as if it was one of those features that didn't make it. I will be happy to see just an icon instead of some of the names that company's use for the Apps. Some of them aren;t happy enough with just the app name, they have to include the company name, then, some wven put the trademark (TM) sysmbol. Jeez!
