I have deleted account.prefpane. Please don't ask why, but it was a moment of madness. I am new to OS X, but have been using computers too long to know you don't just delete system files for the sake of it! Could anybody let me know how I could get it back. I would be EXTREMELY greatful!

Regards,

Peter

Maybe if you try to "upgrade" to the latest full version of OS X it gets installed. What version of OS X are you running? You'll probably need a copy of that package that matches what you had before deleting... Someone could send it to you by E-Mail, for example...

I am running a PowerBook which is about 1 month old. OS X 10.4.3. If someone could email it I would be very greatful! Is it just a case of putting it back where it came from?

There is a program called Pacifist. Using that, you may be able to extract the file from the installer DVD/CD.

Excellent! Many Thanks...Just what I needed...The search feature found it on the DVD straight away, it was just a case of dragging it and dropping it back! 10/10!
