My ibook g4 started running slow a few weeks back(that rainbow colored spiny disk thing would come up).I eventually tried restarting it when it seemed to fully freeze.once it restarted the computer wouldn't fully start up.it would just freezes on the start up screen.so i tried running the apple hardware test c.d that came with my laptop and the results were that i have trouble with my mass storage.what does this mean?can any recomend something that could fix this problwm?i'm broke broke broke and this is a real bummer.thank you.

The mass storage is your hard drive where your software is loaded. This includes the OS (operating system OS X) and your applications like Safari and Mail.

I would try this..

Reboot your laptop - holding down the Apple and S keys. The screen should boot up with a bunch of white text scrolling on a back black ground. Looks pretty scary, but isn't.

When you eventually see a blinking cursor, type FSCK -Y then press enter.

If you read any error messages but get your cursor back, just press the up arrow once and then enter. Do this until you no longer get any error messages. Then, at the blinking cursor, type REBOOT.

That should do it for you.. However, if your G4 won't get that far, then it is time to think about reinstalling. You might also have a physical (mechanical) issue with your HD. But that is a different conversation ...
