I broke the PRAM cover!!

While removing the PRAM cover to install a new battery, I broke a leg off the cover so now it won't hold the battery in. I've been looking online for a replacement but I came up empty handed.

Is there a place to buy the replacement or have I just killed my computer?

Which model Mac do you have? Could you describe your PRAM 'cover'?
I'm guessing you mean the small cover that snaps in place on the battery holder on many older Macs (I haven't seen one since the original iMacs) If that's all you're talking about, then it probably isn't needed, the battery is not likely to just fall out, but a little duct tape will work wonders!

using duct tape on the inside of a
computer that *cough*HEATS UP*cough*
does not sound like a very good idea....

I'm using the original iMac... And yes it was the small black snap cover that broke. I wish I could find a replacement, I'm iffy about using duct tape inside the computer, of course, it needs something to hold it. The battery socket isn't very secure, and and on this iMac I have to turn it upside down to put it back together. ;)

Hmm, I wonder if Apple could help...

Original purpose for duct tape is to help seal heating ducts. What do you think furnace heating ducts do? *cough*HEAT UP*cough*

Yes, I know, there are better products for this, but a small amount of any tape will adequately hold the battery, many people will have this some kind of tape in the house. Many original iMacs have a length of adhesive tape similar to cloth bandage tape to secure a narrow ribbon cable that runs across the battery holder
