I Can't Find My Original Desktop

I cant find my original desktop preferences although i logged in under my account. it appears that its somebody else's desktop profile. when i searched for my files, i found it in Mac HD under Users file. How do I revert to my original desktop profile and settings???? please help

When you log into the machine what is the path to your home directory? What is the path to the files you located?

i have no idea, really. how do i check that? can you walk me through?

[hard drive] / Users / [your username] / Desktop

is teh same exact location as [your username] / Desktop

Are your files still under [your username]?

yip, my files are still there. upon logon, how do i direct the path to that username? thnx.

I figured it out!!!!! i just created a new user account and used the name of the folder where my original files are, as Short Name..
