i just got a reconditioned power mac g4 400mhz /1m cache / 64mb sdram / 10gb hd/ dvd rom / 56k modem serial # xb02615wjj1

i tried to install leopard, and it wouldn't. I re started it , i tried cold booting it , and i still couldn't get os X to load.

What can i do to upgrade this computer so it will accept leopard?

... Wonder why?

Mac OS X 10.5 requires:

* A Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or Power PC G4 (867 MHz or faster) processor
* 512 MB memory or more
* A DVD drive for installation
* 9 GB of available disk space or more

Stick to OS 9 unless you can get more RAM. If you can max out the RAM on that machine I'd say 10.3 is the newest that will work realistically.

thanks. I'm getting the tiger os, and was told to max up the ram as much as i can ( i think the g4 has a max capacity of 1 gig )

867mhz processor, 512mb of ram, at least a 15 gig hard drive, as with all the printer, and extra languages, leopard is almost 12 gigs.
you have some serious upgrading to do, and you still have to figure out how to get around the processor requirement, which isnt hard, but it wont run well on your computer. stick with tiger when you upgrade

the logic board is bad ( i had a tech check things out last night) it's not worth repairing, so I'm looking for a new expensive mac
