I just found out why Apple should be charging for Jaguar

I called Apple UK Store to enquire about student pricing and ended up on the phone (a rarity) with a REAL technician. ie knew a lot more than me! He basically explained that to keep from OS XI or OS XII and so on, for the time being Apple want to keep the X.

Therefore a tenth increment signifies a new OS. (Almost!)

10.2 is a new build
10.3 will also be
.................
10.9 will probably be last one until OS 11 is released. I think Apple really like Aqua "X"'s everywhere!

If they even think about doing X.10 I'll go insane. I've just about had it with those annoying pop behinds. X.10 ads are the reason I was forced to go to mozilla, it stops the damn ads.

I did ask, and you can't; Only for upgrades. Jaguar isn't an upgrade.

I emailed them once telling how they were one of the most annoying things I had ever seen. They said that you can go to their site and actually with a cookie turn them off. It works, too.

I've done the cookie thing before too, it eventually expires, unless they have changed it. Plus it doesn't always work as they say it should.

Yeah, you are correct. It is I think for a month. Never failed on me, though.

But here's one reason I can't use any derivative of Netscape under OS X. Because of the hosts file mod I did, directing ad servers to 127.0.0.1, every time either Mozilla or Chimera tries to go to one of these servers, where OmniWeb simply won't go, they spit out a sheet saying they can't connect to it. For EVERY one! It really makes it unusable. Anyone know how to make it stop this?
