It appears in the control panel when you attach a compatible device such as a Wacom tablet.
That picture, the icons are Rendezvous, Quartz Extreme, Inkwell and Windows compatibilty. So you probably won't see those icons floating around in general use. Although they are there somewhere, I've seen them, can't remember where though.
