I-photo Changing Slide Show Settings

I can't seem to permanently change the default settings for the slideshows in iphoto. I hate the "ken burns" effect, and i also prefer to have no dissolve btw slides - every time i create a slideshow, i have to change these settings.... any way to do it permanently?
 
Do you close iPhoto properly or does it suddenly quit on you? If it's closed properly those settings should remain, sudden quit loses any changes. Or iPhoto may just launch to a default each time, not sure.

Open iPhoto and set the settings the way you want and quit it before doing anything else, relaunch and see if the settings remain ;)
 
closed properly, no sudden quits. don't know why it won't save changes.... can't find anything in preferences that allows default changes in slideshow settings either.
