I Photo Raw Pictures

I know I Photo is suppose to support Raw format for digitial photos. I do a shoot in Raw with my Nikon D80, after I down load them to my MBP and open I Photo the pictures show as a Jpg format is that normal do I have to change the ext back to raw? I do not want I Photo change them to jpg I want to keep all the quailty that raw verus jpg gives me. Thanks for any help in advance.

Look Apple's iPhoto FAQ http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300876. It seems that all changes you do to the picture, are stored onto a JPEG picture, which is to me how the RAW picture should be: it is the original, which is never changed.

(I use Aperture, so I have never tried RAWs with iPhoto)

I use iPhoto with my Canon 300D (Canon Rebel in North America). I had the choice to use JPG or RAW. I selected RAW.

As mentionned by artov, iPhoto does not change the original image, it creates a copy for editions.
