do we all know this?
do we all WANT to know this?
or is it just me?

but what does the (i) stand for
imac
ibook
ipod
i,etc

then with (E)mac

The "i" stands for internet, at least, it did with the iMac. The first iMac was designed to be able to easily to connect to the internet. Not sure what's going on with the iPod - perhaps the online store. The "i" seems to denote their consumer-level products. Steve also listed off some other meanings of the "i" in the introduction of the iMac:

As for the eMac, well, the "e" is for education. It was originally designed for schools, and that's how the "e" was defined in marketing. You could also argue that it came to mean "economic".

I think since the iMac, Apple have just realised that people have associated i... with good design and ease of use. So have continued this idea.
