I wouldn't go as far as to say they totally suck, but they do have some major issues (#1 being speed) that need to be worked out.
I use iPhoto regularly and think the app is great. It's a bit slow but other than that I have no problems with it at all. I also use iChat and although you can't seem to transfer files with PC users, it seems just fine for my use.
iCal on the other hand is kinda weak. I used it for a couple weeks but it just doesn't seem as smooth and integrated with Mail as I think it could be. That being said, I really don't need a calendar on my computer but it would be nice to have a good (free) one.
And as Sean Connery once said in Highlander, "You have the manners of goat, and you smell like a dung heap."
That doesn't mean anything, I just think it's funny.
