I have a couple of 256meg pc133 sdram sticks from an old ibm is this going to be compatable with my sawtooth (spec - pc100/133 sdram). Is it likely to damage the mac trying?

Cheers
Peter

It should be perfectly compatible. If it is true, up-to-spec PC-133 SDRAM that is backwards-compatible with PC-100, then it should work fine.

Thanks for the help, i dropped the 2 x 256mb ram in and wow! the jump from 256 to 768 has made a huge difference and works like a dream for video editing

Oh, yes, I would imagine so! Apple states that 128MB is the minimum required to run OS X, but I found that 512MB is a "sweet spot" for performance. 768MB provides a little better boost over 512, and 1GB is even better, but the performance gains are marginal.

Glad to hear that it worked! Sometimes dropping in a little more RAM can provide a boost on par with a processor upgrade.
