I hope this is some bull$#!T story some idiot made up and not true in any sense.

Would Steve Jobs have anything to say about that? Does he own enough stock to tell IBM to FU_K OFF. Steve Jobs still hates IBM... right?

Steve Jobs hates Big Blue (IBM). He truly hates, hates, hates them! There is no way Steve would let IBM buy Apple.

Unless he got buttloads of money.

Seriously, is it really necessary to post about a rumor that has only has 1 source? I don't think this even qualifies as a rumor -- just an idiotic statement.

You guys need to review the facts better, an Apple/IBM partnership or buyout could be very benficial to both companies if properly managed, it could even be powerful enough to truely compete with and defeat Microsoft for once and all. Check out this thread on another forum I frequent (under the name 'amadeus') where we debated this very same rumor, it really is an interesting read.

Last I heard, IBM was thinking about spinning off or terminate their PC division, so it would be highly unlikely for IBM to make such a high bid for Apple, considering their strength is in the consumer/personal sector.

kommakazi, based on Steve Jobs's previous performances, do you really think he'll care about the strategic implications of such an alliance, given he reportedly hates the company?

this reminds me of comments that building PC emulation into MacOS would increase apple's market share. maybe it would, but whoever suggested it might want to try convincing Mr Jobs...

Why do we need an IBM/Apple merger to "defeat" M$? M$ seems to be doing a pretty good job of that on its own.

Steve was very right when he said, to paraphrase him, "There aren't going to be any winners, only survivors."

Apple will survive.

Cheers,
Dak

The new processor has "extentions". Everyone can read this and 4 a new chip I may not give wrong specifications.
