iBook Combo Drive Problem

My iBook G4's Combo Drive refuses to accept any disks. It allows them to be inserted, makes grinding noises for several seconds, and ejects them. I have tried resetting the PMU, to no avail. I have tested nine seperate CDs and DVDs, including the Mac OS install DVD.

Any ideas?
 
It would seem that the drive has failed, as it refuses to boot. Does anyone know if there are any easy DIY fixes, since I have lost my receipt?
