ibook display problem

I have an ibook g3 700 with OS 10.2. I have a problem where when I uprade to say 10.2.4 or 10.2.8 the display goes all weird.The best way to describe it is that the refresh rate is out with vertical lines and poor colour.If I wipe everything and put 10.2 back on its fine.

Any help plz.

Try 10.3 or 10.4?

i started up with 10.3 and it did the same thing but i did not completely install it.
