ibook display - replaced inverter -no worky

I recently followed steps to rplace the inverter cable on my ibook as I was convinced I had the dreaded hinge pinch problem. The screen would go out depending on position of the screen. However, last week I could not get the screen in any position so I decided it was time to do the fix. I was very careful and meticulous and swear I did everything correctly, but after putting it all back together with new cable I still have no display. Furthermore the VGA port also gives me nothing to my external monitor. Did I do wrong, or have I mis-diagnosed my problem?

I did have the logic board replaced once on this ibook. Could it be this again?
 
Hmmm.... it could be a number of things..

My first guess would be the cable - but it does sounds like another component - not the cable - is out to lunch.

Did the external monitor work BEFORE you changed the cable?
