I have an iBook G3 500 and with a 10GB drive. I wanted to put a new hard drive in it so I took it apart and put in the new drive and now all I get when I boot is a solid grey screen. The CD drive does not spin, the hard drive does not spin. If I unplug the IDE cable from the board I get the flashing icon asking for an OS and I can boot up fully from an external firewire drive, but as soon as I plug in the CD/hard drive cable I get the grey screen. I have already tried all of the resetting stuff. I don't know if it is something with the cable or the cd drive, or the connectors on the board? Any ideas??
