iBook G4 14" HD noise

I have an iBook G4.
It works fine but when the room is quiet I hear the hard drive constantly spin and click about every second or sooner.
Is this noise normal or is it a symptom of a HD which is about to give up soon?
I have Apple care till January 2008 but basic diagostic tests show no HD problem.

It wouldn't hurt to give a call; I have the same G4 and don't experience what you're writing about.

It really depends on how loud the clicking noise is. Different harddrives make "normal" sounds at different levels. When a drive _dies_, of course, the clicking is rather loud and you won't get it to run anymore. If it sounds _almost_ normal and you only hear it when the surrounding is quiet, then your harddrive's probably perfectly within specs.

Of course you _do_ have a backup of all your important data, settings, apps etc. not older than 2 days just in case, right? ;)

Thanks for the advice. I assume the HD sound is normal and it's just an older drive. I backed up files today just in case.
