I have problems with my, bit old, office jet G85 printer from HP. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. I have to shut down both mac and printer and start up again both and then plug the USB port to make it work. Any ideas who to fix this problem? I have looked in HP, latest drivers and everything

What version of OSX you using? Moreover, perhaps you have all ready done this, what is the default printer set to? If it is USB, you do not have to reboot, just disconnect the printer from the USB port, and re-connect.
I have a similar problem with my office printer. My solution is to unplug it from the USB, and plug it back in. A reboot is not necessary.
Not sure if HP has been keeping up on the drivers lately, especially with Tiger.
