ok so this board has help me out in the past and i hope that it can come through when no one else can,
i have an ibook g4 1.2, the other day on start up it crashed before it could finish start up. after that it would not boot at all, it froze on the white screen, after booting it on the tiger install dvd and running disk utility the screen went to the folder and the question mark, i went and bought a new hard drive and after installing the new hard drive (which was wonderful) i reinstalled tiger and it booted up, it run great for about an hour then while inporting itunes songs it froze and restarted, disk uitilty shows that the drive is there but can't verify it because it can't unmount it, after i ereased the disk and tried to reinstall tiger it will never finish the install, i have noticed that the computer gets hot when the hard drive is active, everything that i can tell it is a heat issue, i am useing the ibook now i have it booted off an external drive, it runs great, if it where a logic board issue it would not even boot off an external right? it only seems to crash when the hard drive has to be used and or gets hot, apple has been no help on this and it seems odd that disk uitily sees the drive and sometimes it will let me run a repair and verify on it but other times it says that it can't, if any one can help or give any advice i really need it
