ibook g4 will not wake up

My ibook g4 running Panther was put to sleep. The battery discharged and now the computer will not wake up. The battery is not charging either. The power cord has stayed at a yellow light for 24 hours. I have tried force shutdown and tried to reset the power management unit, but do not get any response.

Sounds like you might have a bad dc-in board or AC adapter. Both parts are relatively cheap. But if you don't have a spare known good AC adapter its hard to test.

Have you tried to take the battery out and leave the AC adapter in?

Take the battery out, and unplug it from the wal, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds let off, and let it sit for a couple of minutes, put your battery back in, and plug it back in and try it again.

He already tried it as stated in first post by resetting PMU. If he does it again there's a good chance it will crash the chip.

For what? I thought you were the guy having problems..?
Whatever link you posted, goes to nothing.

Even with battery out, the ibook wouldn't start. I had to connect a firewire to the ibook from an Imac. That started the ibook, but it was a very weak charge, just enough to show that the battery was discharged and there was no other power source.
The mac genius was not even able to start the laptop.
I debated whether it was the battery or dc inboard. I got a dc inboard from Ifixit, spent an hour putting it in and now the ibook has booted up and hopefully will charge the battery. Thanks everyone for your input.
