iBook G4 won't recognize Airport Extreme Card

We installed a new Airport Extreme Card in our iBook G4 and ran the software disc. The computer does not recognize the card. We reinstalled everything several times but no luck.

It was difficult to do the physical installation, as the restraining wire did not lift or close easily.

We have rechecked the connections and they are all seated properly. Any ideas?
 
If the wire retainer was hard to get into place, chances are the card isn't fully seated. It takes more force than you would think necessary to get the card all the way in. If you can see any of the "pins" on the card it isn't seated.
 
My son had a similar problem on his eMac. You need more force than you would think reasonable to seat an Airport Extreme card.
