i'm looking to buying an ibook strictly for screenwriting... i was wondering is the 12 inch keyboard easy to get used to or should i step up to the 14 inch?

They use the same keyboard on both models...no differences. The 14" iBook just has some extra case material wrapped around it on the sides.
If you're not use to the "short throw" of the laptop keyboard it might take you a few days to adjust to it. Once you do it you may never want to use a regular one again. I've become addicted to the notebook keyboards now...I can't type on a regular one anymore. I'll probably wind up buying a Kensington Slim Keyboard, which uses a similar design for it's keys, for use on my next desktop.
