Does anyone have BOTH a Clamshell and IceBook? Or know enough of them to know if the KEYS of the keyboard are of the similar/same size and mechanism?

My special interest is on the highest row keys (esc, f1-f12 etc). And in case of a key or two misbehaving in the IceBook, can the spare keys of a Clamshell be used to replace them? I've never had that close look at the clamshell keyboard because I had no reason to wonder this...

I am not 100% sure (so don't blame me if I am wrong) but the clamshell and the ice book keyboards should be the same.
There was one time when I had both (at the the end of year 2002).

I believe the only difference is the placement of the clips which hold the keyboard on its place (the plastic snap things situated on the 'upper' side of the keyboard)

Damn if you asked around 1/2 year earlier....

The tabs at the bottom of the keyboard are slightly different, but it should still fit in and work all right.

I asked a genius today about it (but was in the apple store for other things). He says they are similar, and work, and only the transparency is different. And - instead of me later now getting the clamshell keys (which would look cool as well!!) he had a spare keyboard there and just asked me what key(s) i was missing! Cool! Now my 2nd keyboard is perfectly working as well. :)

Actually, a patchwork keyboard would look really cool! Having a few incomplete keyboards of ibooks and powerbooks and making one entire with them... :D

I don't know if it's too save a little weight, but the Ice Book keyboard feels lighter (and flimsier) than the clamshell, which always gave back good response.

You could have a few beige keys from the old keyboard this G3 used to have, if you like.
