iBook screen goes grey until reboot, what's up ?

Sometimes after I've put my iBook to sleep one or more times and I open it up the screen is grey with black vertical pinstripes.

I can log in to it over ARD and get normal VNC functionality so it's obviously a graphics/monitor bus issue.

At first I was worried that putting my iBook in my backpack had bent or damaged something inside but I would expect that to cause a permanent, persistent problem.

Rebooting fixes it.

Does anyone recognize this problem ? Is it a signal that my monitor's about to die ?

i've had a similar problem with my iBook, but it was a particular component failure.... (see http://www.apple.com/support/ibook/faq/) but what you're telling is very similar to what happened to me, so i'll check if it is a problem related to your graphic board...
