I replaced an inverter cable and Airport antenna cable which fixed a display failure problem.

Upon reassembly, I found the track pad, clicker and keyboard not working with 10.3.9. A USB mouse/kybd work great! Also Airport card is not found which was working before the display fix. yes i plugged in the antenna connector.

booting OS 9.2.2 either from the harddrive or an install CD shows both the trackpad/kybd to be working. But the screen display is now flashing dark after about 2 seconds. Hitting Space Bar or other keys brings it back for another few seconds. During the few seconds of screen display, I can control the cursor from the track pad.

thanks in advance.

totally puzzled

You might want to verify the connections, especially because it's so easy on the iBook. Just pull back the two tabs on the keyboard and lift up. If that's not it, a re-install might be a good idea.

hi eric
thanks for your post. I did check the connectors on both trackpad and kybd. Since I can control the cursor with the trackpad during those brief moments of screen display (OS 9.2.2), the connectors are obviously OK.
Also I am able to boot into Safe Mode using the Shift Key on the internal kybd. When booting with the Option key down and a bootable CD in the drive, I can use the trackpad and kybd to select a boot drive.
The problem appears to be software. The drivers for TP and KYBD being installed correctly during boot up but then mysteriously being disabled after booting (OS 9 or 10) is complete.
totally weird yes??

hi eric
I also have reinstalled 10.3 from a perfect (unscratched CD set) then I reformatted the HDD by writing all zeros. Then another reinstall. No change in the High Strangeness!!

booting into the Open Firmware mode, shows the KYBD working perfectly. then hit 'mac-boot' OS X completes booting the KYBD then stops working.

SIGH!!!
