iBook (white) & RAM

Alright, I want to get a 512MB DIMM for my ibook. Do the (cheaper) DIMMs for an older PowerBook G3 work in an iBook 500/white? I'd much rather pay around $60 than $150....

nope, the iBook 500/600's take a very slim SO-DIMM. To the best of my knowledge that powerbook ram is too thick and will be a problem installing. Especially if you have an Airport card.

I'm have a brand new ibook and installed the 512 MB Stick from crucial. It seems to be working great. No weird kernel panics or anything like that...so far. I have had it for half a week now.

Take care,
John

I've had my 512 mb stick that I got from Crucial for about six weeks and it works great. No complaints at all. Of course, I got it when it was about $105, now it's up to like $180. But, that's still not bad considering that 6 months ago it was around $600.

Yea. I just bought a refurbished ibook 500 from Apple with a CDRW-DVD drive and I upgraded my RAM to 348 from Crucial. They have great service that ships fast and sells quality RAM.
