Just a day or two ago, seemingly out of nowhere, my iBook started to refuse to go to sleep properly. That is, it will not go to sleep properly when I close the lid. It will sleep nicely when I select 'Sleep' from the Apple menu, but as I'm carrying the 'Book around all the time, I really really want it to sleep with the lid closed.
By 'not go to sleep properly', this is what I mean:
1) I close the lid.
2) After a moment, I briefly see the LED sleep light come on in front of the computer.
3) In the next moment, I hear a low-pitched, mechanical whirring/spinning sound from inside the 'Book (hard drive? optical drive?), and the Apple on top of the lid glows. (I guess the latter symptom means the LCD screen 'came on'.)
4) Repeat symptom #2.
5) Repeat symptom #3...and on and on.
I searched the forums... Battery problem? Maybe some weird code from a recent Apple Software Update?
Your help and interest is appreciated ahead of time. Thanks!
