iCal 1.02 released?!? ...

i just went to apple, and noticed the image for iCal and iSync now had iCal 1.02 rather than 1.01, so i went to check what version of iCal i had, and it was 1.01. Don't know whats in that small update, little i'd imagine, but i thought i'd let you know ;)

NeYo

I just downloadind iCal 1.0.1 this morning. I thought COOL I can get away MS Entourage. It was the worst program I have EVER downloaded.

1. The start of the week kept changing every time I opened up.

2. Times would reset

3. Alarm would not appear.

Of course I went back to MS Entourage and I wondered why I left.

10mins later is saw the iCal 1.0.2>>>>Should I give it a chance or is MS Entourage safer package.

Alarms were always fine for me, whether it be sound, visual or email on iCal 1.0
Times would reset?! ... Crazy?! i dunno about that either! ...

maybe you should give it a quick look, u never know .. apple obviously had something 2 sort out! Hopefully they did it?! :D

must have been some sort of bugfix that they didn't get around to or missed on the 1.0.1 release...

iCal 1.0.1 is really broken for me too. It is almost perfect except that when ever I drag a new calander event on a day, as soon as I let go it jumps to the previous day. It'll do this even if I try and drag an already existing event - it'll just jump to the day before.
So it is impossible for me to have events on Sunday :)
Crazy eh! Anyone else have this?

This makes it unusable.. hope 1.0.2 fixed it.

For all of those who are wondering why iCal was so quickly updated to 1.0.2, there was a MAJOR bug in 1.0.1. Dates and appointments were severely screwed around for anyone who lived in a time zone that was +10 GMT or more. It caused a lot of headaches for a lot of people, myself included.

Here's a large thread about it on Apple's discussions forum.

Hey that's me!!!

I live in New Zealand, and iCal was really stuffed. Glad to see Apple haven't forgotten us ;-)

I wish mail and ical were one app, just like entourage, makes things so easier. Until then, i'll stick with my Entourage, one app open that does it all for me.

Urbansory - that's actually one thing I really prefer about apple mail - that it's just a mail program, not bundled with calendar, addressbook and such.

I find MS Outlook/Entourage to be too much like a swiss army knife - it's got lots of semi-functional stuff built in. If you want a corkscrew that won't mangle corks, a can opener that won't slice your thumb open, or a saw that will cut wood before next week, you carry the real thing.

Anyway, one thing I find slightly annoying with iCal, and it doesn't seem to be really fixed, is that events cannot span midnight. Since my shifts at work sometimes do just that, I have to make two events, one till midnight, another starting midnight the next morning.

I like not only the fact that the apps are separate, but also the fact that the data is accessible to any application...

I have a menuling which gives me access to the entire addressbook. I can select a name, then select a phone and have it displayed in large type on the desktop or have it dialed from a blutooth phone or have my modem dial the number (via another 3rd party app).

I can also select emails from that menu and have a new messagfe to that email address popup in mail.

as for iCal. I run it all the time, but I have a menuling that shows the current date and all calendar events (from selected iCal calendars) show up on that menu. I just saw an app in version tracker that will display all of iCal's unfinished todo items for the current day in a window.

i find that having separate apps with data accessible to any application creates an environment for these small 3rd party addons that far outweight any integration you have from any other app.

don't forget that you can also send meeting from ical. I have not tried it myself since work uses outlook, but presumably the functionality works via mail.

1.02 Killed my iCal! It all worked fine before, now it won't even open. Just Unexpectedly Quits immediately. No Fair How do I get back to 1.01?! What do I have to delete?! Tried copying it back from my PowerBook, but it's still haveing none of it. Help!

Edit : It's okay now! Downloaded the full installer from the Apple site. Must have just been the Software Updater thingy that was screwy. Ta.
