Ichat And Aol Buddies Always Showing Offline

Hi there,

Anyone familiar with iChat? I have an iBook G4 MAC OS X Tiger 10.4.2 , and I have added a few AOL buddies to iChat, but they always show offline? I installed AIM, and added the same buddies and they show up fine, so I am wondering if there is something special I need to do in iChat?
 
AIM users have the ability to set their privacy settings to allow or disallow people to see if they are online. (iChat allows that as well). My first suggestion is to check with them and verify their privacy settings. Secondly, check your privacy settings as well which can be found at: Ichat>Preferences>Security.
