ichat AV (video) not happening

Hi, I can type chat with a collegue who is on a Hotel broadband connection but voice and video doesnt ever connect.

video and voice works when he is in his office (using VPN)

Is this likely to be a firewall issue and if it is why does the text work and not video.

It is quite surely the firewall setting. Text messages use different ports than video and audio and this is why text messaging mostly works while video and audio are blocked. However, we have many threads on the network and firewall settings for ichatav. Check out search. But since you mentioned that your collegue is on a hotel broadband I don't think there is any way for him to fix this problem. These settings have to be adjusted by the network admin of the hotel and I am quite positive they won't open certain ports in the firewall and make it slightly less secure.

thanks sam will look more for that info. Actually the hotel seems quite receptive to getting it working as they are new and looking to impress and its the boutique market they are after.
