Ichat Not Responding

Hello,

I have just gotten myself a Powerbook G4. and it comes with iChat.
When i tried to configure it for the first time so as to get it to work, it will simply stop responding. There is no fix location where it will stop responding. It just does that randomly. Sometimes it even stop responding at the first page where I am required to enter my .mac account details. Is there any solution to this problem?

I am having a OS X version 10.4.2.

It could be a corrupt plist file. With iChat off, navigate to:
/Users/YOURNAME/Library/Preferences
and find the file named:
com.apple.iChat plist
and trash it and empty the trash. Then restart iChat and try to set it up, and see if that makes a difference!!
