iChat rendezvous messaging... compatible with?

Yes, AIM, for video/audio, as long as you're running XP.

bob, are you sure about that?
I don't see any mention anywhere on aim.com about rendezvous messaging. The reason I want to use rendezvous is because we are behind a firewall at work and cannot connect to the aim server - and of course rendezvous messaging doesn't require a central server....

ichats rendezvous is based on appletalk and thus not compatible to pcs. Not sure if there are some "emulators" out there for this protocol, but for now I would say it's not possible to use rendezvous with windows based os. I wonder why you would be interested to rendezvous only. You can use the aim/ichat compatibilty to chat and use video/audio connections. You can even use filesharing..

thats interesting to note... i thought rendezvous was a standardized protocol, since so many new printers use it. I also thought that iTunes used rendezvous for music sharing (which works with windows).

as i stated before, we are firewalled off and cannot connect to the AIM server.

Rendezvous = AppleTalk easy-of-use
There are many AppleTalk printers out there. Adding rendezvous functionality should be quite easy and thus not very surprising that it's available for printers. Why did you "thought" iTunes "used" rendezvous. I didn't say it doesn't and infact it does use rendezvous. What I pointed out was that I only don't know of any windows based software being rendezvous compatible since there is not even any AppleTalk compatibility available..

A solution to chat with ppl that are firewalled is to use web-based chatting such as yahoo! and icq2go. Not as comfy, but it's a solution.
