ichat webcam problem

Dear Sirs,

I have recently purchased a Macally Icecam2 from an Apple reseller store which after installing extra drivers (found as online downloads) and iUSBwebcam (also a download) I can now view a picture of myself on ichat on my G3 mac (now running TIGER 10.4.11), however when I try to link to my father's computer it rings but we get a connection failure message.

We are able to send text messages back and forward to one another but have not managed to get an audio chat to work either.

I have however ,managed to get an audio chat to work with a friend of mines G4 mac when I was at his house, however this will have been getting a signal from the same router. This was using his .mac account but we were unable to try a webcam test as he does not have a webcam!

When trying to link to my fathers computer we are trying to connect via AIM since it seems that on a G3 mac Gmail is not available. It is worth mentioning that my father can successfully link to my sisters webcam via gmail - both of them have a computer of the same spec listed here :

iMac 20/2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM/ 250GB Serial
ATA drive/BT/AP/WLKBM part number MA759B/A serial number CK71402XY3U running Mac OSX 10.5.6 LEOPARD.

Could it be that the set-up at my end is incorrect stopping the process from working since I was assured that the webcam I bought should work with my computer?

Many thanks,

Gareth

If you can communicate between your Mac and any other computer, then your problem does not lie in your computer. It sounds like there may be a block on the ports required to use your problematic IM service.
