Icon on desktop

Recently a Mac icon appeared on my desktop, just above the dock (which I keep on the right of the screen). I cannot move it, and nothing happens if I click it. It doesn't seem to do any harm, but I am curious as to what has happened.

Any ideas?

This shows the top of the dock and the icon directly above it. I am on a G5 with the latest version of Tiger

does it stay there if you log in and out?

it looks like it's from a currupt dock display.
you could just try changing your dock position then putting it back again
