Icon View

Is there a way to increase the amount of visibile characters in a file when in Icon View? I've made my icons the smallest size possible, but finder still truncates them. Is it possible to mimick windows' list view?

Here is a screenshot of what I mean:

I'd like to have the complete name visible.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried making the window larger? With your mouse click and hold the bottom right corner of the window and drag it to the right. This will make the window larger and make room for those long names.

In list view, place the cursor between columns in the
title area. And hold down the mouse button. The cursor
changes to a vertical bar with left and right arrows. Drag
to the right to increase column width.

In column view, there is a double-vertical line at the
bottom of the column separator. Drag there to change
the column size.

Hi. Sorry about late response. I think there is confusion as to what I'm trying to explain. I am aware of resizing columns and windows. This is not in the list or column view. This is in the "icon" view. To illustrate, here is another screenshot, showing you the window resized, etc. Notice how file names are truncated. I've played with icon size and font, but that doesn't solve the problem.

Using a utility such as Onyx, you can change from single to double label lines in Icon view. :)

I tried that program, but it only works if the text is below the icon instead of to the right. I guess there is no work-around for this. Finder needs some major improvements...

It works for me using OnyX, with labels below or to the right of the icon.

Of course, if you set Icon size less than 20 x 20, there will not be room for two lines in your labels. At 16 x16 you will only get one little line.
